Gray Wolf (Canis lupus)

We currently have a pack of six Wolves.
They are:

  • Kawoni: Alpha female, B. 4/2003
  • Kiva:
  • Ahote:
  • Wahya:
  • Nayehi: Alpha male, B.4/95
  • Kanati: Beta male, B. 4/95, Nayehi's brother
All of these Wolves are captive-born. The elder Wolves are from Wolf Park, the younger from Bear Country, USA in Rapid City, S.D.

The best time to see activity at the Wolf Habitat is early morning or late evening, especially during the warmer months. If you're really lucky, you might get to hear them howl.

Grey Wolves are extinct in Tennessee.

Bays Mountain Park will be adding four new grey wolves to its pack this year. These wolf puppies will be kept in a separate enclosure until they are old enough to join the rest of the pack.

It will take a lot of work to raise our new wolves. We have a great group of volunteers who will help us do this.

Below are some pictures from one of the training sessions.
