| There is no charge for programs for Kingsport
City Schools, Bristol Tennessee City Schools, and Sullivan County Schools. Grade level
Nature Programs and Planetarium Programs are available for grades Kindergarten
through High School. Each of these programs usually lasts about 50 minutes,
although arrangements may be made for longer nature programs. Most teachers schedule a COMBINATION PROGRAM including
both programs for the same trip. For groups bringing four classes or less
we can schedule a single program. Schools bringing five or more classes
must schedule a COMBINATION PROGRAM so that we may split the group and
run concurrent programs and then alternate the groups.
Our Naturalists will be available for In-School Programs during December, January, and February. Most of these programs are video and slide programs lasting about 45 minutes except for the K program which is 30 minutes. We usually present each program to two classes at a time, although in some schools this is not possible. In other schools we present the program to all students in the same grade level at once. Your school must provide a video cassette recorder (VCR) and monitor (TV). It is also helpful but not necessary for you to provide one room where we can set up and have the students come to us for the programs rather than having to move equipment from room to room. When you schedule, let us know if we need to bring a projection screen. We prefer to do as many classes in your school during one day as possible. In order to get the "best" dates, please call early.
